Well, I am finally in Italy! Yesterday and today have both been very long days. My journey started off yesterday at the DFW airport. From there, I had a relatively quick flight to Chicago. The short flight seemed even quick thanks to the book I was reading (The Girl on the Train. I’m not done yet but so far 10/10 would recommend). What was supposed to be a 2 hour layover in Chicago ended up turning into 6 hours as our flight to Rome was delayed for 4 hours… yay for traveling. Luckily, I had 2 seats to myself on the plane and was able to sleep most of the time. After the 9 hour flight, we were finally in Rome!! We are staying the night in the Garden Tulip (PSA it’s pink) a hotel in a town outside of Rome, and then tomorrow we leave for Pompeii.

s’pink s’cute

Upon getting to the hotel at 2, we had a few minutes to check in and take our stuff to our rooms before our 2:30 orientation, followed by our first day of class. The past two days have been tiring, but it was well worth my first Italian meal. What better way to start off a trip in Italy than margarita pizza and a glass of red wine? I thought the basil in the middle looked like a heart, but I’m not sure if that’s the jet lag or lack of sleep talking. These next few days are jam packed with field trips as we explore Pompeii and ancient Rome, but I’m so excited to get started. Until next time!

Ciao, America

Tomorrow I officially start my Italian adventure! I will be going to Italy for 5 weeks to study abroad, taking an architecture class and a class on Greek and Roman mythology. As part of the program we will be visiting Rome, Pompeii, Siena, Venice, and Florence, while residing for the majority of the time in Orvieto, Italy. In addition, we have 2 free weekends for travel in Italy! Orvieto is located in the countryside of Italy, in between Rome and Tuscany. I’m excited to see what the next five weeks will bring and am looking forward to the gelato, pizza, pasta, wine, falling in love with Paolo and becoming an international pop sensation…oh wait, the last part is the plot of the Lizzie McGuire movie. Nether the less, make sure to come back and check up on my adventures!

Ciao,
